Lundy ElementaryWelcome to Fifth Grade
Science and Math

Fifth grade students will complete twelve exciting Science units this school year. This year’s Science content will explore the nature of Science and S.T.E.M., Physical Science, Earth Science, and Life Science. Math covers sixteen essential topics this year to include the following focal points: Developing fluency with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of fractions and decimals, generating expressions and equations to solve problems, solving problems with perimeter, area, and volume, organizing/representing/interpreting sets of data, making grade level connections, and financial literacy. When it comes to math, practice makes perfect!

I have been happy to serve the El Paso community as an elementary teacher in grades three through five for the past twenty years. I have taught all subjects in these grade levels, with the exceptions of physical education, vocal music and orchestra. It has been a pleasure to have had the opportunity to serve so many enthusiastic students and meet so many supportive families over the last two decades.

It has been my experience that students get out of their education what they put into it. I always tell my students that if they can’t excel with talent, they can triumph through effort. Effort is the key to success. Goal setting is also a key to success.  I encourage my students to set age appropriate short and long term goals for themselves. I want my students to learn to think.
