Welcome to Lundy!
Hi my name is Robert Valdez and I am the Special Education Resource teacher. I graduated Park University with a Bachelors degree and earned my teaching certificate at Region 19. This is my sixth year teaching at Lundy. My philosophy when it comes to education is that every classroom presents a unique community of learners that varies not only in ability, but also in learning styles. My role as a teacher is to give children the tools with which to cultivate their own gardens of knowledge. To accomplish this goal, I will build a positive rapport with the students I work with (watch the video below.) Iwill teach to the needs of each child so that all learners can feel capable and successful. As a teacher I will be acting as a guide, and allowing a child’s natural curiosity to direct his/her learning. I want to encourage children to work together, and develop necessary social skills, so that they are able to succeed in life. I want to instill in our children that we are all life-long learners, and we should never stop learning. Each and every child has the potential to bring something unique and special to the classroom and ultimately the world. I will present curriculum that involves the interests of the children and makes learning relevant to life. I will set the bar of expectation high, so they will strive to be the best student they can be. I will be sensitive and understanding to those students in need, I want to set an example for my students to show compassion to their fellow classmates who may have a disability or need extra assistance. I will assist children in discovering who they are, so they can express their own opinions and nurture their own ideas. I believe that our children are our future and by investing in the now, they will be great people who can lead us into the future. Ultimately I hope to teach my students respect, empathy, acceptance, and embrace the differences between us, as the core of what makes life so fascinating.
If you have any questions or would like to set up a conference, my conference time is from 12:30 – 1:15.
